Nura earned her Bachelor of Science from The College of William and Mary and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Columbia University. In the fall of 2023, her research, Reporting Lumbopelvic Pain during Pregnancy, was published in the Journal of Women’s & Pelvic Health Physical Therapy and she has presented her research at the 2021 Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Nura has postgraduate training in pelvic floor physical therapy through Herman & Wallace and is working towards earning a Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification. In her spare time, Nura loves cooking, lifting, yoga, hiking with her dog, listening to music, and traveling.

Patient Testimonial
When I first met Nura, I didn’t realize just how uncomfortable I felt in my body. First it started with constipation, then sexual dysfunction, then I had leaking while dancing at concerts, my favorite thing to do. I was nervous to explore pelvic floor therapy as a trans person, and I didn’t know anything about it beyond kegels. I was pessimistic about healing, and I didn’t realize how out of touch and disconnected I was with my body. After years of binding my chest and wearing tight clothes, I had gotten too used to it.

Working with Nura was transformative: it gave me a radically different understanding of my body and what it needs, how to take care of and accommodate my body so it can function in the ways I want, and it has impacted every way I go about my life, whether in the bedroom, sitting at my desk, dancing at concerts, getting dressed in the morning… doing PT exercises was critical but also such a surprisingly small part of the wonderful work Nura and I did together, along with education, emotional processing, and hands-on work. The internal releases were very helpful and I felt I could trust and feel comfortable with Nura doing that work. I appreciated the level of intention surrounding consent and communication as well. Nura is a gift to the queer community and to anyone who is struggling in this way. Truly life-changing!

For me, pelvic floor PT was not covered by my insurance so it was a big expense, but it was worth every dollar. If you’re on the fence and you can afford it, I hope this gets you off the fence! My life is so different now because of it and I am incredibly grateful for Nura’s expertise and bedside manner.
