Our compassionate team is here to provide expert, personalized care to help you regain confidence in your body and restore your quality of life.

What to Expect
Your first session includes a thorough evaluation of your symptoms, medical history, and goals. Together, we'll create a tailored plan that addresses your specific needs, whether you're seeking relief from pain, better bladder control, or improved mobility and strength.
Commonly Asked Questions
Physical therapy assessments and treatments are tailored to your comfort and pace. While visualizing specific pelvic areas may be beneficial during the examination, any part of the process can be adjusted if you feel uncomfortable. You are welcome to bring a support person or request the presence of another physical therapist during the examination. Additionally, you have the option to decline any portion of the examination at any time. Your comfort and well-being are our top priority.
Internal examinations, involving the use of a gloved finger in the rectum, are a key component of a comprehensive pelvic floor assessment. This type of examination provides the most thorough evaluation of the pelvic floor muscles, allowing us to identify sources of pain, assess muscle function (such as contraction and mobility), and evaluate the range of motion in the pelvic area. While this examination offers valuable insights, your comfort and sense of safety are our primary concerns. Prior to the exam, your therapist will carefully explain each step, ensuring you understand the process. You are welcome to bring a support person or request the presence of another physical therapist during the examination. Additionally, you have the right to decline any part of the examination at any time.
Urinary incontinence (leakage) is a common concern following prostate cancer surgery and treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Most patients wear protective garments to manage any leakage during their physical therapy appointments. You are welcome to bring extra supplies and change garments at any time for your comfort and convenience.

Pelvic health issues can affect men too! Research shows that up to 16% of men will experience pelvic pain at some point in their lives. Furthermore, 1 in 6 men will receive a prostate cancer diagnosis. However, many men tend to keep their health concerns, medical conditions, and challenges to themselves, often avoiding open discussions about these issues, even with their healthcare providers. Most pelvic floor symptoms in men are under-reported and often not diagnosed, leading to frustration and worry. Even symptoms such as post-void dribble (leaking urine after finishing urinating) or constipation, which are thought to be "normal", can be addressed with pelvic floor physical therapy.
The pelvic floor examination is not intended to cause pain. However, certain procedures may be used to replicate the pain you are experiencing in order to better understand your condition. We always strive to choose examination techniques carefully to minimize any risk of significantly worsening your discomfort. The entire examination and treatment process will be conducted at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Simply doing kegels on their own is like going to the gym and only doing bicep curls. Pelvic floor physical therapy is a much more comprehensive approach, involving a thorough examination to create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. For many patients, kegels may not even be part of the treatment plan. For those who would benefit from them, however, not all kegels are the same. Just as there are different variations, frequency, duration, and application of bicep curls, kegels require a nuanced approach depending on your unique needs. Working closely with a pelvic floor therapist is the best way to understand your specific symptoms and develop a personalized plan to help you return to a normal, active life.
