FAQs
We Do Physical Therapy Differently
What makes us different?
The treatment is focused on YOU not your injury. We take the time to understand all aspects of what has happened in the past as well as what is happening now. We believe that everything is connected and if you take the time to listen, patients will guide you how to help them. It is the concept of looking at the whole and not the pieces. Our mindset is also that we are working as a team to get to the cause of an issue instead of a bandaid on the symptoms. For us, you are an individual whose care matters.
Telehealth is the use of mobile devices or computers via a digital platform to access health services. It is a way for us to connect with you in the comfort of your home or office. Telehealth has been around for many years, but it grew in popularity, and improvements in applications have made it a mainstay with the current pandemic.
As Physical Therapists, we can use video to assess your issues and focus on environmental factors that we otherwise may not see. It allows us the opportunity to connect with you in a private setting in which we can talk through the injury and understand the physical obstacles you are currently facing. We will have you perform movements to check functional deficits, often looking at specific tasks and identifying patterns.
With the knowledge we gather, we can then tailor a personal exercise prescription for your individual needs. We’ll give specific instructions, often demonstrating with you, providing verbal cuing and feedback on form to ensure safe and correct performance. We can also send you a follow-up email with written and visual instructions for the exercises we’ve prescribed. In addition to the physical component, we can also provide practical solutions for injury healing and prevention. We provide a lot of education on activity modifications, ways to safely initiate or progress exercise, the best ways to allow healing from an injury, and to prevent new injuries from occurring. As with all our sessions, this session is about you and doing what we can to take care of you.
A Physical Therapist, Physiotherapist, or PT is a licensed professional who graduated from an accredited educational program that offers either a Master’s Degree (MPT or MSPT) or a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). A PT is a movement specialist who uses a comprehensive skill set to evaluate and treat a patient and provides instruction, guidance, and exercise to expedite recovery, achieve optimum performance, and prevent future injuries.
Choosing a physical therapy clinic can often be a difficult decision. Many people are referred by friends or family or often people will choose based on a list given by their doctor. While all PT’s are university trained and state licensed, it is important to select someone who is trusted, knowledgeable and friendly and who can provide the best quality of care for your injury. So here are a few items to consider:
- How long has the physical therapist been practicing?
- Does the physical therapist have an area of expertise?
- How much time does the therapist spend with patient directly?
- Has someone recommended the clinic or therapist you know? And had a good experience?
- If you are seeing someone at a clinic, are you improving?
- Are you pleased with the quality of care you are receiving?
We understand and recognize the importance of your health and our role in your recovery.

Most states have passed a direct access law to allow patients to directly access care from a PT. Contact SetPT with additional questions about specific providers.
SetPT will call the insurance company on your behalf to determine what your coverage is for physical therapy services.
You should bring the following items to your first appointment:
- completed new patient forms from the Patient Center (forms will also be available at the facility)
- insurance card
- method of payment (credit card, HSA/FSA card, or check)
- athletic clothing is recommended and dressing areas are provided
Per our cancellation policy, if you need to reschedule or cancel your session we require 24 hours advance notice. If you cancel or change your session within 24 hours, we will process a cancellation fee that is posted for each location. We value yours and our time.
This is your time so we want you to feel comfortable. The PT will listen while discussing relevant medical history and evaluate mobility, strength, balance and functional movement. The appointment is scheduled one on one with the PT for up to one hour and follow up appointments will be scheduled after the evaluation.
In states that legally allow Dry Needling by Physical Therapists, all our therapists are certified to perform dry needling.
