Running Medicine Program

At Set, we take pride in offering specialized running medicine services tailored to meet the unique needs of runners. Our team of experienced physical therapists understands running biomechanics and the specific challenges faced by individuals engaged in this dynamic activity. Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or a novice jogger, our running medicine program is designed to address a spectrum of issues, from common overuse injuries to gait analysis to ensure a safe and sustainable approach to training.  Several of our therapists are Certified Running Technique Specialists (Pose Method).

As part of our running medicine services, we provide comprehensive gait analysis to assess your running form and identify any biomechanical irregularities that may contribute to injury. Our physical therapists collaborate with you to create a targeted rehabilitation plan, addressing specific areas of concern and incorporating injury prevention strategies. Through a combination of manual therapies, strength training, and corrective exercises, our goal is to enhance your running efficiency, reduce the risk of injuries, and promote overall musculoskeletal health.

Understanding that each runner is unique, our running medicine program emphasizes individualized treatment approaches. From addressing acute injuries to fine-tuning running mechanics for enhanced efficiency, the physical therapists at Set work closely with you to achieve your specific goals.  Whether you’re recovering from a running-related injury or seeking guidance on injury prevention, our running medicine program is geared to support your journey towards optimal performance and longevity in running.

Targeted Rehabilitation for the Barbell Athlete

At Set, we understand the unique demands that weightlifting and barbell training place on the body. Whether you’re an aspiring powerlifter, Olympic weightlifter, or a fitness enthusiast incorporating barbell exercises into your routine, our physical therapy services are designed to address the specific biomechanical challenges associated with these dynamic and intense forms of training.  Several of our therapists have taken courses through Institute of Clinical Excellence (ICE), which offers many classes related to training athletes.

Our approach begins with a thorough biomechanical analysis, observing the specific movements involved in weightlifting and barbell exercises. We identify potential areas of stress or vulnerability and from there, we develop a treatment plan that not only addresses existing injuries but also focuses on injury prevention. Through targeted strength and mobility exercises, we aim to optimize your performance while reducing the risk of common injuries associated with weightlifting. Our goal is to empower barbell athletes to train with confidence, knowing that their bodies are well-prepared for the demands of their chosen discipline.

Beyond injury rehabilitation, our physical therapy services for barbell athletes extend to performance optimization. We collaborate with you to understand your training goals and design strategies to enhance your strength, power, and overall athletic performance. Whether you are looking to break through performance plateaus or seeking guidance on technique refinement, we strive to be your partner in achieving peak performance and long-term success.

Targeted Rehabilitation for the Overhead Athlete

Recognizing the challenges posed to the shoulders and upper body in activities such as baseball, tennis, and swimming, our rehabilitation programs are crafted to target particular injuries, improve biomechanical function, and guide a secure path to peak performance upon return. Through a thorough assessment process, we identify individualized needs, focusing on the intricacies of overhead movements.

At Set, our rehabilitation protocols are rooted in evidence-based practices, leveraging the latest advancements in physical therapy to tailor interventions for each athlete. From shoulder impingements to rotator cuff injuries, our skilled therapists employ a multifaceted approach, combining manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and progressive strengthening techniques. The goal is not only to address immediate concerns but also to fortify the athlete against future injuries, promoting longevity and sustained excellence in their chosen sport.  Therapists at Set have taken courses through Institute of Clinical Excellence (ICE), which offers many classes related to training athletes and through the International Tennis Performance Association (ITPA), which offers the Tennis Performance Trainer (TPT) certification.

At our practice, we prioritize education, empowering athletes with a deep understanding of their bodies and equipping them with targeted exercises for ongoing self-management. We believe in a collaborative journey towards recovery, where our therapists work hand-in-hand with athletes to achieve personalized rehabilitation milestones. Whether you play on your high school team, enjoy college intramurals or are a dedicated enthusiast, our team is dedicated to guiding you through a comprehensive and targeted rehabilitation process, ensuring a return to peak performance in overhead sports.

Concussion Management

Our concussion management strategies encompass a multidisciplinary approach, combining physical therapy interventions with collaboration among healthcare professionals, including neurologists and neuropsychologists. We emphasize individualized care, tailoring rehabilitation plans to the unique needs of each patient. From vestibular exercises to cognitive rehabilitation, our goal is to restore optimal function and mitigate the lingering effects of concussions. Throughout the rehabilitation process, education plays a pivotal role as we empower patients with the knowledge and tools to manage their symptoms and prevent future incidents.

“SetPT has been truly a blessing to me! I began going to Set in after surgery for a severe humerus break and insertion of a plate in my upper arm. Everyone who has seen me in the last six months has remarked on my phenomenal progress!” –T.F
