When you enter one of our physical therapy facilities, we want you to feel right at home. At SetPT, our goal is to foster a positive, encouraging environment for you to get healthy and return to the activities that allow you to live life to the fullest.
Our mission is to blend advanced treatment techniques with the values of compassion, empathy, and respect to guide patients through the healthcare maze by giving you knowledge and confidence to reach your goals and “live life your way.”
Each of our physical therapy centers is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, allowing our therapists to offer customized treatment and the space necessary to promote functional retraining. Your SetPT physical therapists utilize private rooms to facilitate patient comfort while receiving treatment for your movement goals.
During your first physical therapy session, we want to instill in you what I call the three E’s:
1. Evaluate
To start your treatment off right, SetPT always provides you with a comprehensive initial evaluation. Our various facilities allow patients to come directly to us, and we are often the first point of contact for addressing their injuries. We want to complete a detailed assessment to determine the cause of your symptoms and why it is you are experiencing them.
Our evaluations are objective and provide you with benchmarks of where you are and where we want you to be. Whether it be strength, ROM, or functional deficits, we are adamant about making patients aware of these limitations to provide them with the steps necessary to get healthy.
2. Educate
After we evaluate your symptoms, we will then educate you on precisely what is going on with your body. All of our physical therapists have extensive anatomic education and have anatomy atlases in their offices to thoroughly explain any symptoms, disorders, or setbacks you may be experiencing. Many patients come to us after seeing a physician and still don’t understand the extent of their condition because they didn’t have adequate time to ask questions or were too stressed about the news they heard.
Our full-hour sessions allow us to spend time with patients and make sure that they fully grasp what they are experiencing. Often when our patients hear the words “tear,” “herniation,” or “dysfunction,” they start to fear that the condition might be lifelong. It is our job to clarify their status, what they’re facing exactly, and provide them with the necessary encouragement to embark on the road to recovery.
3. Encourage
Have you ever been to a healthcare provider and heard the sentence, “you will never be able to do this again”? At SetPT, we find that statement to be incredibly dramatic and unnecessary. In some circumstances, people have to make lifestyle modifications to get well. However, it is very rare that somebody will be unable to do something ever again, and if that is the case, we are sensitive to the fact that people need to grieve that sport or activity that they once loved. Before making definitive statements about lifelong movement limitations, we want to make sure that it’s true.
The majority of the time, patients need encouragement that they can get back to their regular physical activities once they undergo treatment and follow a home exercise program. Physical therapy is 50/50. Your therapist can only do so much to get you better and needs your participation and help in the process.
SetPT is more than just physical therapists – we’re your teammates in the process of getting you healthy. Contact us today to start your journey to recovery!
