It’s the holiday season, and we at SetPT have some great gift ideas for those who love to stay in shape and take their health to the next level. These are recommendations we have made to many of our patients and would love to pass on. Enjoy!
1. Massage Gun
If you’re an avid Instagrammer or social media subscriber, you’ve probably seen one of these come up on your feed. Massage guns take old massagers to a new level with varying speeds and multi-heads that allow individuals to target areas in their body that are tight or not activated. Chris Estanfanous from our DC location did a fantastic review of the Hypervolt and Theragun massage guns, so check it out to see which option is best suited for you or a loved one!
2. Swiss/Exercise Ball
Who doesn’t love a great big giant ball? Not only are Swiss balls fun to sit on, but they are fantastic at assisting in a wide range of exercises varying from core stabilizing to lower back stretching. A true fitness buff’s day isn’t complete without using an exercise ball! Most people fall within two sizes- 65mm and 55mm. If you are on the taller side, I would opt for the 65mm ball.
3. Resistance Bands
Resistance bands can be used for so many exercises that it’s hard to keep track! They also don’t take up much space, so you can easily throw them in your suitcase when traveling for on-the-go fitness. The flexibility and versatility of resistance bands are exactly why we’ve chosen them as one of our top gift suggestions. As a bonus, they are inexpensive, so you won’t break the bank with this purchase. We love resistance bands so much we even have our own pack that you can purchase at any of SetPT’s locations.
4. Over-the-Shoulder Hot Pack
The SHARPER IMAGE Neck & Shoulder Wrap Pad isn’t your run-of-the-mill hot pack. This hot pack covers the shoulders, neck, and upper back all at once and can be warmed in the microwave or placed in the freezer for 1-2 hours and used as a cold pack. Most of all, we love the size; it’s challenging to find a hot pack that truly covers your neck, which isn’t an issue with this gift.
5. Health Trackers & Apps
How many times has your friend started an exercise program in the new year and lost momentum by the second week of their new regimen? One of the best ways for people to stay on track is by using accountability tools. This can be accomplished with exercise journals or an app that helps track progress. It is very encouraging when you see that you can now lift twice as much as last month and helps keep you motivated.
If you’re having trouble reaching your fitness goals due to pain, apps can assist with that too. There are plenty of great apps out there that help people deal with chronic pain. For example, the Curable app teaches meditation and strategies for managing pain so you can move forward.
We at SetPt wish everyone and happy and healthy holiday season. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us or stop by your local SetPT; we are always happy to help in any way we can!
