SetPT is shining the spotlight on our physical therapists. Our goal here is to ensure their patients are safe and sound, preventing injuries and recovering properly.

This week, we’re putting the spotlight on Physical Therapist and Co-Founder Stacy Hund. Read on to find out why Stacy loves being a physical therapist and how she likes to spend time on the weekends.

Stacy, PTPosition: Physical Therapist, Set PT | PT, DPT, CSCS, Certified Pilates Instructor | Atlanta, GA Location

Stacy is one of the founding members of SetPT; a physical therapy practice focused on treating patients one-on-one for 1-hour sessions. She has learned over the years that the value in individual care is the opportunity to listen to a patient’s story. So much information is tied up in each person’s story. By understanding the factors that led up to the injury, both physically and psychologically, the healing process can begin.

Stacy began her journey towards becoming a physical therapist in college. She knew she wanted to work directly with people in the healthcare profession but did not know which direction to choose. She always enjoyed being involved in sports throughout her life and played tennis for three years on the varsity team high school; however, it was an uncle who suffered a paralyzing injury that helped her understand the value a physical therapist can provide.

Stacy attended Emory University and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2004. She moved to New York for an adventure and was introduced to the concept of one-on-one physical therapy in an orthopedic setting. Life moved quickly from the start of her career and after learning the one-on-one model under the mentorship of Erika Muraski, she moved to Washington DC to start a location in the city. In 2007, Stacy embarked on a new venture with Erika Muraski to start SetPT with a focus on Service, Expertise, and Time in the heart of Washington DC at Metro Center.

Stacy learned that patients valued the individual care. As a physical therapist, she had the time to apply hands-on techniques and eyes on the patients to ensure that when they did an exercise, they were using new strategies instead of old habits to make a change in how their bodies moved.

In 2009, Stacy relocated to Atlanta and started SetPT Atlanta, knowing that she wanted to continue to work with patients in a one-on-one model. After establishing roots in Atlanta, she partnered with Chris Estafanous in 2016 at SetDC to continue to grow the practice.

She currently resides in the Morningside area of Atlanta with her husband and two very busy boys, Liam and Wyatt. Her weekends stay very full, chasing after her two boys. She particularly enjoys gathering with friends, cooking and swimming with her kids. She is always up for a challenge and feels blessed to be a physical therapist and interact with amazing and interesting people each day.
